#MeetEmMonday: Less than a month from now, Cody Hennequin will take to the mound for his senior year as a member of the Purchase College baseball team. Over the last three seasons, Hennequin (Milford, CT) has established himself as the Panthers' ace. In year one, Cody appeared in 12 games (four starts) and finished with a 3-1 record. He recorded a 4.70 ERA and 28 strikeouts to just 13 walks over 38.1 innings pitched. His 28 strikeouts ranked second on the team, while his 38.1 innings pitched and 1.41 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) ranked third. In 2019, Hennequin officially locked-in his status as the workhorse pitcher for Purchase and improved his numbers across the board. He easily led the team in innings pitched (67.2), strikeouts (47) appearances (15), games started (nine) and complete games (three). He also tied for the most wins with four, finished second in WHIP with 1.15 and cut his ERA to 3.19. While Cody didn't serve as the opening day starter against the City College of New York in 2019, he did throw a scoreless inning of relief in the eventual win. Hennequin then followed that up by tossing a seven-inning complete game win over Plattsburgh State, 5-2, in the second game of the season. For his efforts, Hennequin was named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll Twice. As he and Purchase moved into the 2020 season, the expectations for both were sky-high. Sadly, COVID-19 wrecked those plans and limited the baseball team to just 11 games. Despite the minimal action, Cody still showed he was the Panthers' ace. In two starts, Hennequin went 1-0 with a 2.03 ERA and eight strikeouts over 13.1 innings. He also allowed just nine hits and four walks and easily led the team in WHIP with a 0.98 mark. Hennequin and the Panthers have since turned their attention to the 2021 season. While practice for the team just got underway last week for the first time, Cody has already received his first honor of the season – being named a tri-captain with his fellow seniors, Dylan Flynn and Josh Ferro. As for the Panthers, their first game is scheduled against Manhattanville College on March 13th. #PurchaseCollegeAthletics #PantherPride
