In honor of sibling day- let me tell y’all about the time I almost murdered mine.

In October 2015, my brother had to relocate from San Diego, CA to St. Petersburg, FL for the Coast Guard. Let’s make it a road trip he said. It’ll be a good time he said. We “will see shit on the way” he said.

So I fly into California and 9 hours later I’m knees to chest holding my duffle bag in the passenger seat of an SUV that looks like a hoarder packed it. [ photo 01 ] No time to unload and do it right he says. Don’t worry, we will stop a lot and stretch he says. I’m smiling in the photo because I still had trust. The adventure begins.

Our first stop was at a “gas station” somewhere in Arizona. [ photo 02 ] This was the location where he somehow covered my pants with gasoline when he decided to go with a whip motion release at the end of a fill up. His follow up to this magic trick was telling me 10 hours into the drive we weren’t stopping until we reached Texas because he was on a personal mission to make it to Florida in THREE DAYS. This was straight up entrapment. Visual 03 was the most scenic experience I had in 72 hours and four states. I was front row to his Latin EDM playlist on loop while he tried to set a record for most energy drinks consumed before heart failure to make it through the Texas time warp.

By the time we got to Louisiana- I was choosing a swamp to leave his body in. He allowed me to sleep in a hotel in NOLA for 5 hours. It saved his damn life.

Suddenly we pulled over in Missouri and he had to take a call outside the truck. He came back and asked if I wanted to actually stop and eat. We ended up at a barbecue place called The Shed that doubles as a flea market and a music venue. Visual 04 is the rib plate he was eating when he told me he had received bad information the week before and it actually didn’t matter when we got to Florida so we could take our time now.

From California to Florida in three days for no reason y’all. And I’m leaving out what he put me through in Florida. 
Sibling love is unconditional and this dude loves to test it.
