NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
Every "coming out" story, and "can't come out" story, that has been sent to me during the production of thegreyareafilm I have saved. I took some time to read through many of them again today. 
These are some of the most meaningful stories I have ever read. I will hold on to them and value them for the rest of my life. 
There are many who believe our struggles as an LGBTQIA+ community are over. There are many who believe that because we are "celebrated" somewhere- we're being celebrated everywhere. 
These mindsets will, of course, always exist- however, if that were true we wouldn't still have people trapped in closets they're afraid to "come out of" for fear of what or who they'll lose and of what may happen to them. 
To those of you who have a "coming out day" to reflect on- Do not ever let anyone belittle how much bravery that took. 
To those of you who are not yet ready or may never feel safe enough to be ready- I hope you find some way and someplace in this world that allows you to live and love truthfully. 
And for those on days like these, or any day, that think statements such as, "I don't believe in it- but I tolerate." is a kindness or a show of support, I would like to help you understand that it is not. 
We are not fictional, mythological, fantasy or folklore creatures. We are not ideas. We are not imaginary. We are not rumors. Our existence isn't a question mark. We are here, we are real, and we are just as human as the rest- if not more. You may "not like" us, "not agree" with us, "not feel comfortable with us"- but "not believing in us" is pretty impossible.
