Mark D. Ross, better known as 2 Live Crew's Brother Marquis, has died at the age of 58. No cause of death has been made publicly available. ⁠

Born in New York, Ross joined the Miami-based 2 Live Crew in 1986 and appeared on their 1989 breakout album As Nasty As They Wanna Be. The album gained notoriety after it was was deemed obscene by a court in Florida and became the first album in U.S. history to be banned for that reason. The group's follow-up, 1990 album Banned In The USA, was the first album to feature a Parental Advisory sticker.⁠
