Meet Barb and Bill, an inspiring duo whose journey with us at the Valparaiso Family YMCA exemplifies the power of community and resilience!

Barb bravely shared her story with us, detailing her battle with depression following a series of challenging events, including the impact of COVID-19, the loss of her father, and a debilitating fall. It was her caring neighbor who reached out and encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and join our YMCA family.

Since becoming members, Barb and Bill have found a supportive community and a dedicated personal trainer, Robyn, who has been instrumental in Barb's remarkable recovery. In just a few months post-stroke, Barb regained her speech, and even took her first non-assisted steps with Robyn's guidance and support.

Now, Barb and Bill are proud advocates of the YMCA, urging everyone—regardless of background or circumstance—to explore the transformative opportunities that await within our doors.
