My name is Arielle. I love to climb mountains and color coordinate my outfits with my gear. I love cruising the terrain park on my snowboard and pulling a few strands of hair out of my hat so people know that I am a girl. I love picking out technical gear and styling streetwear outfits with cool hats and boots. I am PROUD to be a woman in the outdoor space. 

I say all this and yet the truth is I feel like no matter how qualified I am or how hard I ride, bike, climb I feel like just by being a woman in so many of these male-dominated spaces I have to try so hard to be taken seriously. 

I have been climbing for over ten years and I still get mansplaining comments here on IG about my knots… believe me, I know how to tie a figure 8 at this point. These comments come in and I think to myself? Would he have commented this on my post if I was a man? I doubt it. 

This month I am SUPER proud to be a part of karitraa ‘s “Girls will be Girls” campaign. While there are more women than ever in the outdoors, the reality is that women have to work so much harder than men to be taken seriously and it’s about damn time that changes!
