When I first started trail running this year there was still a fair amount of snow on my favorite trails, so I found myself running the same 2-3 over and over again. Honestly, I didn’t mind though because each week I was pushing myself to go further and/or faster so it was actually pretty cool to see how each time compared to the last.

Minus the one random snowstorm in June, this spring was one of the warmest we’ve had here in Colorado since I moved home so at this point almost everything has melted out now. Although trail running is now splitting its time with biking and climbing, I have been LOVING getting out and exploring more zones.

stiomountain has been a long-time favorite of mine for adventure clothing. Since the brand is from Jackson Hole, WY they really know how to make gear that fits the needs of mountain people. These shorts are called the “Second Light” Short and are literally the lightest and comfiest running shorts I’ve tried yet. Even the built-in liner is light and comfortable (something I’ve found is hard to come by). The jacket is called the “Second Light Windshell” and it too is super light, breathable, and quick-drying. I’ve found it to be the perfect layer to stop the bite of the wind on mountain passes without making me overheat.

To me, the best indication of having the right clothes for the activity is not noticing them while you are in action and I definitely feel that this outfit keeps my attention on what’s important- running! I have a couple of big distance goals this summer and am excited to take you all along for the adventures. Anyone else loving trail running this year? #stiopartner #lettheoutsidein
