raise your hand if you’re scared to drive in another country 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

THANKFULLY my friend was brave enough! so we rented a car and drove from city to city. While staying in Killarney, we did a scenic roadtrip called the “Ring of Kerry”. If you drive straight through, it’s a 3.5 hour drive but this can easily be a full day activity because there’s plenty of places you’ll want to stop to sight see, grab food, explore and more. 

Accessibility-wise, it was a great option for us because for the majority of the drive we were in the car and didn’t have to deal with steps and stuff. If there was a place I wanted to explore we took Scootz out of the car. 

For the lookout points, I just hopped out and walked to the viewing area which was only steps away. The best part is you make it your own! So if an area doesn’t seem accessible, just keep driving. It was a great way to spend our second day in Ireland!

My recommendations:
☘️ the route is one big circle. make sure you start going the OPPOSITE way that the tour buses are going so you don’t get stuck behind them. any local can point you in the right direction!
☘️ plan for a full day and leave early! we definitely did NOT want to be stuck driving on these winding mountain roads in the dark at night (we are Florida girls used to flat roads), so we left early enough to make sure we were back at our hotel by sunset
☘️ driving on the opposite side of the road is scary but you can pick up on it quick. use pull-off spots if you feel like a lot of cars are behind you and you’re going slow. this will let them pass then you can keep going at a pace you feel comfortable with
