Nia Curtis, an Elementary Education graduate from Chicago, wasn't going to leave illinois1867 without some pictures to mark her big moment. With Mom behind the lense, Nia and friends turned a sunny day in late April into a photo op outside the Education Building on 6th Street in Champaign.

Without a formal graduation ceremony due to the #coronavirus pandemic, "it doesn't feel complete," Nia told News-Gazette photo editor Robin Scholz. "I'm going to start adulting after May 16 and I kind of feel robbed."

The College of Education conducted a virtual Convocation Ceremony, and Nia and her family planned to watch in a Zoom group, the proud senior wearing her robe.
