Scout's story 💙✨

After being told to put their first dog down after he suddenly became paralyzed, Scout's mom was determined change the mentality around disabled dogs by showing the world that they are not worthless and deserve a chance at a happy life. 

"I saw 'BoyScout' featured on Walkin Pets #foreverhomefriday.  He was a stray or possibly living with a homeless community when a good Samaritan saw him, and thinking he was injured, picked him up and dropped him at the local shelter.  A Purposeful Rescue pulled him from the shelter, set him up in a foster home, and got him medical attention.  His X-Rays and MRI did not show any injury or IVDD or disc issues.  He simply has 'a malformation of the spine'. He is not in any pain and I suspect he was born that way.

He was located in L.A. and was marked for local adoption only – but they were willing to consider us because of our experience.  L.A. is halfway across the country – but we already had a trip to Las Vegas planned.  It was like it was meant to be!  So we cancelled our return flight home from Vegas, rented a car, drove from Vegas to L.A. to pick him up and drove the next three days from L.A. to his new home in Omaha NE."

Using the nickname “Scout”, they started introducing him to the world, both online and in person.  Scout’s fearless “I can do anything, get out of my way” personality makes him the perfect spokesperson to advocate for special needs dogs! They take every opportunity to get him out and about to show people that handicapped dogs are just regular dogs that do things differently.  They even make sure to stop and take the time to answer any and all questions about Scout and his wheels. 

"Scout loves walks, playing fetch, rolling in the grass, destroying toys, BALLS!, ice cream, snuggling, and did I mention BALLS!  We hope that Scout’s happiness will help show the world that differently abled dogs are worthy of love and a chance to live their best lives."
