Graduate Lila Juenger will be attending Trinity University in San Antonio in the fall. Going in with a projected biology major and planning to find outlets in orchestra and studio arts, Juenger plans to maintain and extend her passions while in college.

For Juenger, Trinity offers the perfect balance of new experience and maintaining the feeling of home that she grew up around.

“I picked Trinity because I knew I wanted something smaller,” Juenger said. “Ideally, I wanted something out of Texas, but when I first went to the Trinity college visit, I felt really drawn to it. I toured the school, and it just felt like the right fit.”

The combination of science and the arts is something that defined Juenger’s McCallum experience, and she hopes to continue to make both subjects essential in her future college career.

“I have been playing violin for 10 years, and I didn’t want to give that up,” Juenger said. “I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to do with a career, but I wanted to keep playing.”

Violin is both something she hopes to continue in college and something she will always remember about McCallum.

“I’m most going to miss orchestra and the people I have met here and the people I have met in the Fine Arts Academy and the connection I got there,” Juenger said.

Her love for biology began in her childhood and blossomed into an intended major.

“Biology I picked because my dad is a biologist, so I grew up around that kind of class,” Juenger said. “For now that’s what I want to do, but you are allowed to change your major until sophomore year.”

Juenger is most excited for the newness that the college experience will bring.

“I am most excited about meeting new people,” Juenger said. “I am going to miss McCallum, but I think it’s really exciting to start a new chapter.”
