The University Theatre Dance Company Spring Concert was slated to open at 7:30 this evening, and would have featured a wide variety of dance pieces choreographed by CMU faculty including Damian Sanderson, Bird, Lynn Bowman, Andrea Purrenhage, Keeley Stanley-Bohn with student choreographer, Madison Miloszewski, and Heather Trommer-Beardslee with student choreographer, Mariah Sterley.

In Fall of 2019, the Department of Theatre and Dance and University Theatre presented the annual Dance Minor Showcase. From that performance, Maya Voorhorst, Sara Orchard, Jazmine Banks, Cassandra Scouten, and Krystyna Myslinski were selected to have their dances included in the spring concert this year. 
Additionally, one of the pieces that would have been on the program, “It’s Happening Right Now,” was an interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty members representing Biology, Dance, Theatre, and Music. The company plans to continue rehearsing and exploring this art piece once in-person rehearsal is once again possible.

UTDC Director, Heather Trommer-Beardslee, and senior, Mariah Sterley, co-choreographed a tap piece that was performed in Nagoya Japan in December 2019; that dance was also going to be featured in the Spring 2020 concert.

The department is devastated to have missed our main stage season finale, but we are looking forward to seeing the Company dazzle Bush Theatre’s stage again soon.
