It's Solid Orange Friday! This week, our SOF student highlight is junior early childhood education major, Samantha Watts.🐅🧡

What does the No. 1 Student Experience mean to you?

To me, this means that Clemson has something for everyone despite age, values, or interests. I came back to Clemson in the Fall of 2023 for the first time in 5 years. I am more involved now and I can truly attest to how beautiful it is to invest in the place that we get to call home. Clemson has so many amazing organizations on campus that there is really something for everyone.

 What have been some of your favorite parts of your Clemson journey?

My favorite part about my Clemson journey has been just trusting the process. I was at Clemson in 2018 and had to leave. I never thought I would be able to come back but now, at 25 years old, HERE I AM! I saw my return to school as a time to try new things without fear of failing. I formed a close bond with my academic advisor and she had mentioned that I would be a really good candidate for being a Clemson Orientation Ambassador. Now, I’m about to start that journey this summer with people that I can truly say are some of the most amazing people on campus. I’m also involved with Clemson Delight which is a ministry on campus for college women! I’ve gotten to experience some amazing things while at Clemson but the moment I will never forget is getting to baptize one of my friends at Y-Beach this semester. 

 What does Clemson mean to you? 

Clemson means home. I remember coming up to Clemson for a meal or a shopping trip with my dad and brother when I was growing up. During the hardest season of my life, Clemson was my escape and it’s a place that I’ve discovered who I am and what my purpose is in life. I couldn’t imagine my college career anywhere other than Clemson. My hope is that through my time at Clemson, that I can spread that home feeling to everyone that I encounter. Clemson is special and I’m so thankful that I get to be apart of its legacy!
