Congratulations, Will!

Will Kunert (aka Trap Cap) (aka Frat) expertly led the JR crew team as captain. Most mornings you can find Will in his blue Prius driving all the sophomores down to practice before starting his extensive stretching. Will is one of best guys you’ll ever come across. Truly one of a kind. He’s a natural leader and brings the best out of everyone. Whether it’s going to him for advice or asking him for a towel in the locker room, Will’s the guy- selfless, competitive, and a humble beast on the water.

Will began his journey with the JR crew team in 2020 where he still had to do zoom ergs because of the pandemic lockdowns. Going into the Spring 2021 season with minimal training, the freshman 8 made it out of time trials at Stotes and secured an impressive semifinals placement.

The following year was legendary. Who can forget the 2021-2022 season?! Will had an insane year, ripping big ergs and winning even bigger races- . 3rd place at WMIRA, 2022 1v8 Stotesbury champions, and SRAA National champions, along with an amazing run at Henley, across the pond in England. It was a once-in-a-lifetime season that was incredible for the whole program, and Will was a critical part of that elite boat. (More specifically, his chiseled six-pack abs.)

Using his freakish strength, Will played a vital role in being a boat mover in the 1v for the ‘22-‘23 and as a Captain of the ‘23-‘24 season where he contributed to winning 🥇 at SHOP and Walter Mess regatta in the 1v8.

Next year Mr. Kunert will be taking his exceptional talents and leadership to Holy Cross, where he will compete for their D1 rowing team. Thank you Trap Cap for all you’ve given to this team and our program, rowing hard these past four years. You will be missed by everyone without a doubt❤️. We look forward to seeing your continued success in the next chapter.

Always,
JR Crew
