(3/3) Make-A-Wish Colorado was founded in honor of Jennifer Mazak and her wish to meet the KIMN Chicken. Her mother, Joan, was so inspired by the impact her daughter’s experience had on herself and her entire community, that she founded the Colorado chapter of Make-A-Wish in 1983. "It seemed like the perfect way to honor her memory and bring joy to other kids with critical illnesses just like her." Joan served as President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Colorado for 37 years before retiring in 2019. Now, in 2023, 40 years later, more than 6,000 wishes have been granted to kids just like Jennifer, and each one has been granted in her memory.
