In 2011, I ran the New York Mini 10K as a PR attempt. I failed epically, but had the best weekend with emilysweats and our little running blogger crew.

In 2016, I ran the Mini in a skirt. I’d never run in a skirt before and this race felt like the time to try. I chafed. A lot.

The 2018 Mini was special: I was five months pregnant, cruising around the park with Annie in my belly.

And I returned to the Mini in 2019 — my first postpartum 10K race! sarahall3 won that year, and I got to meet her for the first time at the finish line.

In 2022, I hosted the official Mini recap show for nyrr. The teleprompter wasn’t working and I had an impossible time memorizing my lines. I did my best!

And in 2023, I was home. I had just publicly shared the news of my cancer diagnosis, and was in the throes of appointments, tests, scans, and plans. I received so many messages of love from the finish line. There’s just something special about the Mini…

Today, I was back.

Back at the Mini. With a microphone in hand — this time as the finish line reporter on the ESPN and ABC7 broadcast. (An all-women talent team!)

This time, cancer-free. Moving forward. Having the most fun. And so grateful for all of it.

Congratulations to all of this year’s #mastercardmini10k runners. I loved getting to celebrate you today. (I LOVE THIS RACE. And I love you.)
