There are very few companies worldwide that can be proud of such a long company history like Hahnemühle’s. Founded back in 1584 as a paper mill in South Lower Saxony’s Solling uplands, Hahnemühle developed – strictly according to the spirit of its founding fathers – into a customer-oriented and innovative manufacturing facility.  It goes without saying that the products and manufacturing methods have changed to a certain extent since 1584.  At the same time, several things have remained the same, such as our high-quality standard that guarantees our customers the purest papers for art or technical applications.

All our high-quality mould-made printmaking papers for traditional artistic printing techniques are produced in our mill on the cylinder mould paper machine. Their matt, velvety soft, and finely structured surface, make them ideal for analogue artistic gravure, and flat printing processes.  Further, they are also very suitable for analogue & digital printing technologies that do not require a coating on the paper - such as Offset, UV, Latex, and Resin printing.

For photographic printing processes, such as Platinum Print, Dyke, Cyanotype or Salt Prints we offer a special, uncoated fine art paper – Hahnemühle Platinum Rag.  The natural bright white paper with a weight of 300 gsm is made of 100% cotton fibres. It is acid free and does not contain any alkaline buffering. Along with the optimised sizing, the paper allows for easy coating and clearing for alternative processes.  Both sides have a very good print quality without any noticeable difference while printing both the front and the back.

All paper grades are made from exquisite raw materials and are highly resistant to ageing and are also acid free and vegan.
