## Caption

Someone recently asked us, “What are you training for?!” A fair question, since we spend most Saturday nights on local trails, hiking late into the evening. I paused because technically we don’t have a big adventure planned, so I responded—“Life” 🤷🏻‍♀️. 

And yesterday we did it again—found a nearby trail and created a loop using a mix of alltrails (searching established hikes), and maps.me, to link up trails to make our own loop (pic 8). Clocked 18 miles! 

And since SoCal is HOT—we waited until the afternoon to depart. Greasy, amazing Mexican food after 🤤 🌮—LOVE San Diego taco shops (last pic).

It got us talking—WHY do we set out to break ourselves. Why do we enjoy the struggle. 

What it came down to… 

It’s not only about being prepared for trails we know we’ll tackle, but for those spontaneous “bucket list” experiences that pop up. If a friend calls and says, “We got permits, want to do xyz…?”Let’s be ready to say, “Heck yes!”

And let’s be honest, we have ONE life, and we want to seize every opportunity. 

And we agree—‘training’ together has become our favorite way to connect, share laughs, hardships, and encourage each other. Every hike is a story, every training session is new memories. 

+ Let’s be real—at 40+ 🙋🏻‍♀️, I’ve REALLY learned the importance of training—because let’s face it, I can’t bust out an epic hike on a whim anymore. Evan will finally learn next year when he joins the 4-0 Club 😉. 

So here’s to being ready for anything. The last-minute plans and adventures we can’t predict. And most of all, here’s to staying active and staying healthy ✌️.
