It's 6:47pm as I write this and our players are about to begin their training session in St. Louis. This is Spiker writing this post and I wanted to share some thoughts. The video posted above I took two nights ago. Myself, tommy_mohan , tcg.6 , and trental7  were messing around seeing if someone could hit the ball straight into the camera. I didn't have any intention to post it.  Then it dawned on me as I was scrolling through my personal Instagram feed... It's popular to pose in front of a camera and use one of these 4 sayings:

"All we do is hustle."
"Outwork the rest"
"Be the first one in and last one out."

It's the fake, "on the grind,” culture that bothers me the most. Right now, it's cool to look like you're working hard. It’s popular to play pretend, but it is uncool to ditch your friends to work on your craft. The players you see in this video have made this cage their paradise. They have been through the gauntlet of doubt and have experienced the emotional swings of being the only ones hitting. They kept going even when they were told to go home. -

This is why they are both going to college to play baseball. This is why; when they're done with school they will be able to take the tools they learned from athletics and apply them to the real world. The dedication, hard work, desire, process, goals...ALL OF IT will guide them to be the best men they can be. It’s all because they made their paradise in 14ft x 70ft cage. -
