After a hip dislocation at the age of 9 ended the tennis aspirations of current Florida Gulf Coast sophmore Miranda Cabieses, she eventually fell in love with pickleball. She’s even competed at the pro level with her brother Hercilio. With her home country Peru growing an interest in pickleball, Miranda and her brother established the Fundación Cabieses to promote pickleball in Peru. Their foundation has donated approximately 5,000 pickleball paddles, balls, and nets to children around the country. It also organizes events to teach children how to play and helps local communities start their own clubs. The foundation focuses on children in low-income or disadvantaged communities, with the goal of making pickleball more accessible.
