But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? — Galatians 4:9 

There are few things more joyful than the expression on someone's face when they truly become aware of something new in the world. While many new experiences are positive, these discoveries are often heart-breaking and gut-wrenching. Some realizations about the injustices in the world have the same impact as positive ones, they make it impossible to be the same in the future.

Sometimes I think we protect ourselves and our children from knowledge because we are afraid of how our and their lives might change. And while we must be discerning as to what exposure is healthy, we must also fully embrace and pursue knowledge, no matter how difficult it may be.

The path of a growing faith — in ourselves and in the world — along with mystery and experiences is strewn with the gift of knowledge and knowing.

God with us –
We didn’t always know of your love.
Your deep and abiding love.
But now that we know, let us live 
as if this knowledge matters. 
– AMEN
