TDN's #BreedersCup40 Celebration continues today with CLASSIC EMPIRE 🌟 "We put a three-quarter shoe on him and he won. I have that shoe in my office with the win photo," trained Mark Casse recalled. The son of Pioneerof the Nile defied the odds, overcoming a foot abscess that popped up six days prior to shipping to California and going on to win the 2016 GI breederscup Juvenile by a valiant neck over favorite Not This Time.

The striking dark bay won five of nine career starts, including three Grade Is, and retired as a champion with $2,520,220 in career earnings.
