Wilson said he’s always enjoyed fixing things and figuring out how they work, so engineering has been on his mind for a while. “I really fell in love with it after taking [engineering teacher Andrea] Moyers’ classes,” Wilson said. “The engineering courses at McCallum let me challenge myself and learn about the engineering design process. Ms. Moyers is also just an amazing teacher in general.” After his Mac experience encouraged him to consider engineering, Wilson said he picked UT because of its amazing engineering program. “I’ve had lots of time to see its campus and what it has to offer, so I’m pretty confident in my decision,” Wilson said. “I’m excited to stay in Austin and I think there’s a lot more left to see in the city.” Looking back on his time at Mac, Wilson said his most memorable experience was going to all the Taco Shack football games. “They were super fun to watch, and the atmosphere was great,” he said. Not only will Wilson remember the atmosphere at sporting events but also the atmosphere of the school as a whole. “McCallum has a very tight-knit community, and I hope to find people to connect with similarly in college.” Caption by Camilla Vandegrift.
