Class of 2024 graduate Jack McCaskill plans to attend the University of Las Vegas this fall and major in entertainment engineering. For McCaskill, amusement parks have always interested him and sparked his interest in engineering.

“I’ve really liked theme parks and rollercoasters and all that stuff,” McCaskill said. “I find the concept of creating attractions and things that make people smile to be a very nice thing.”

One of the reasons McCaskill chose the University of Las Vegas is the location.

“[UNLV has a] good location for what I’m trying to get into and a good degree that’s set to get me on that path that I want to make and design roller coasters,” McCaskill said.

Throughout his time at McCallum, McCaskill found the perfect place to cultivate his passion for engineering within MacTheatre’s tech theater department.

“Tech has really helped me hone in and focus on the exact areas that I would want to go into further for theme parks or any other entertainment business,”McCaskill said.

While he’s ready for a new chapter of his life, McCaskill is going to miss the McCallum community and environment.

“[McCallum’s population has] a very unique student population, especially in the theater majors, and it’s just been such a welcoming place and I’ve learned so much here that I’m kind of sad that I’m missing out on the next generation,” McCaskill said.
