This fall, graduate Ellie Knoll will be attending the University of Oregon to major in business and minor in art. Knoll finds a lot of her passions in her majors.

“I have always loved art. I guess it’s always been a big part of me,” Knoll said. “And business is a good way to connect with people.”

As a graduate of the fine arts academy as an art major, with four years playing for the soccer team and in the marching band, Knoll is thankful for the impact that the fine arts academy has had on her growth as an artist.

“The fine arts academy has really helped me because I have been in art and band, and those have been really great experiences,” Knoll said. “Being a visual arts major has especially helped me grow into the artist I am today.”

When visiting the University of Oregon this past March, Knoll found the city of Eugene to be a spot where she can thrive outdoors.

“The campus was so beautiful,” she said. “The community around it seems great and Eugene is a very nice town. The surrounding areas are also perfect for hiking and skiing, and the beach is only like a mile away.”

Knoll is looking forward to Oregon’s options for sports clubs, as she hopes to continue playing soccer on an intramural or club team and to join a running club.

“Oregon has some fields and rec centers that are really nice,” Knoll said. “I also want to meet more people that way.”

While leaving home will be a new challenge, Knoll is excited to see what is in her next chapter.

“There’s going to be so many new experiences and people in the new environment,” she said. “I’m going to miss my dog but I’m excited to be in a new place.”
