This is reposted from the "Queering the Family" series from @justiceunbound and @morelightpresby. 

We are so proud our kid — known as ELDEST to many of you — @mixedgrain_manong for writing some moving words.

"Though at the end of the day, I just want to be a good ancestor and leave this world with a little more love in it than when I got here for my baby cousins and all the baby queers out there."

Please take the time to head over and read the full piece, but I just wanted to reflect a bit who are new to this space.

Second, to all of those who have been part of our  greater communal family and helped to shape and form the lives of the Reyes-Chow/Pugh home, thank you. 

For those who are or who are related to those caught up in religious or cultural spaces that would choose to deny or oppression the full humanity of the those around you, you have a choice: embrace the fullness of their being (in our tradition, who God has made them to be) or inflict harm that will ripple out for a lifetime.

This should not be a difficult choice to make, yet I know it is for many. Please pass on the words of our child, not as a tribute to our collective parenting, but as an example of who we can all be when we hold one another with acceptance, affirmation, and love.

Again, to those who helped to co-parent this now adult, thank you.
