Join the Washington Scandals Rugby Football Club as we prepare for an exciting Fall season!

Our Rugby 101 event is a great opportunity for new recruits and supporters to meet the guys, learn the basics of rugby, and then cool down afterward with drinks and rugby songs at our Third Half afterparty at Uproar Lounge.

Who: Washington Scandals RFC, prospective players, and supporters. 
What: Introduction to the athletic and social sides of Washington Scandals rugby.
When: Sunday, August 5th. Rugby 101 from 2:00-3:30, Third Half social event from 3:30-6:00. 
Where: -Rugby 101: Harry Thomas Recreation Center fields, 1743 Lincoln Rd NE, in the Bloomingdale/Eckington neighborhoods, Washington DC. -Third Half social event: Uproar Lounge and Restaurant, 639 Florida Ave NW, Washington DC. 
Why: Learn about the sport of rugby and the Washington Scandals brotherhood

Q: Is rugby experience required? 
A: No experience is required! New players are welcome throughout the season, but August is the best time to join the club, learn the game, and get in match shape prior to the start of the season.
Q: What if I’m not big enough to play rugby?
A: Rugby is a sport with positions for every body type. Size is not a factor. While forwards are often larger, backs are often smaller and faster. 
Q: Do I have to be gay to join?
A: No. While the club focuses on communities who are traditionally underserved in the sport, we are committed to providing an open and welcoming environment for all people regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, political beliefs, athletic ability, age, physical challenge, mental challenge, or health status.
Q: Sounds great! What should I bring?
A: Bring weather-appropriate athletic attire, cleats if you have them, and water.
Q: Can I bring a friend?
A: Of course! The more the merrier! Both prospective players and non-playing supporters are welcome to join the fun!
