🏝️🥾Supporting the rangers of Costa Rica’s Cocos Island! 

We’re thrilled to be celebrating the Cocos Island FAICO grant, aimed at enhancing Cocos Island National Park infrastructure and equipping dedicated park rangers. This initiative underscores the vital role of rangers in conserving the stunning park and its rich biodiversity like the Endangered Hammerhead Shark, Green Sea Turtle and Giant Cceanic Manta Ray. 

The grant provides:

🔹 Upgraded equipment for surveillance and safety, including GPS devices, kayaks, and safety gear.

🔹 Infrastructure improvements for better living and working conditions.

🔹 Enhanced communication capabilities with new radios and repeater stations.

Costa Rica has already achieved the 30x30 marine protection goal, and Re:wild continues to plays a crucial role by supporting partners like FAICO (Friends of Cocos Island Foundation -isladelcoco.faico) to enhance the management of Marine Protected Areas. 

Rangers are the heart of conservation, safeguarding precious wildlife and natural resources. With this support, they can safely perform their critical roles even more effectively. To properly safeguard 30% of the planet’s wild lands by 2030, the ranger and protected area workforce needs to increase fivefold and to receive better support globally.
