I’m always asked in interviews what would I tell my younger-self if I could jump in a time machine. ⁣
⁣
I would tell her:⁣
⁣
If you are getting defeated continuously, keep trying. ⁣
⁣
never get disheartened. Effort will help you to be successful and conquer everything ahead.⁣
⁣
⁣
Today in an NY Times interview I was asked why I wrote my book. ⁣
⁣
I told them:⁣
⁣
There are a lot of books on how people have won The Olympics but I stand here still in the battle. I don’t have an Olympic medal. I’ve been close three times. ⁣
⁣
I wrote my book for the people that are hopeless. That are still in the fight. That have come so close to their dream but then it was ripped away and have no energy left. ⁣
⁣
I wrote my book because I’m not on the other side saying “hey this will all work out in the end”⁣
⁣
No instead, I’m still in the mud fighting.  I have had days where my doubts and fears tell me to give up. ⁣
⁣
But if there is one thing I have learned from coming up short… that is how to rise again. I’ve learned that Failure can be your greatest motivation if you let it. ⁣
⁣
So for all those that are not making Olympic teams keep chipping away… For those that are exhausted because you never feel your breakthrough is coming, make one more push. ⁣
⁣
I didn’t make my first Olympic team and thought it was the end… That I wasn’t talented enough... It wasn’t meant to be. After I put my head down and did work. Tuned out the doubts. I ended up making the next three Olympic Teams in a row after that. ⁣

Be persistent.
