RACE RECAP | CROSS CHAMPS

Our first cross country race since Club XC 2019, the sole objective was to win the team title. Knowing the brutal course profile of the Mt. Sac hills, the men planned to take out the 1st half of the race conservatively as a pack, regardless of what the rest of the field did around them.

Heading into the 2nd loop, it was jamaine_coleman who led the charge in pursuit of the leaders, using the switchbacks as a way to pinch the lead gap, and solidify his 2nd place finish with 800 meters to go.

“I didn’t have any expectations going into this race. It was a test to see where my fitness was at and to run hard with my teammates, which made the hectic environment of a cross race easier to tackle. Toeing the line knowing we’re working towards a collective goal is what made this event truly special. Looking forward to coming back next year.” - Jamaine

The men totaled 13 points in the race (the event only scored the top 4 runners per team). joeyberriatua came in 4th overall, drewhunter00 close behind in 5th, brazzledazzle5k in 7th, and reedfisch in 8th.

The hard work that soundrunning and trialsofmilesracing put into this meet was evident on race day. The environment was fantastic, and we plan to be at races like these in the future. We hope to see you all there next time ⚒
