Good Friday. How good was it really? It sure wasn’t good for Jesus. But it was a gift of grace to us. 

“No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.” John‬ ‭15:13‬ 

How many people would you die for? Actually? Really? I doubt anyone’s true answer is above 5. And I assume all of them are family or friends you’ve known forever. Now to die for a stranger? Or 10 strangers? Or all the strangers and sinners in the world? Then ever, across the life of Earth? That is selfless love. That is only Jesus’ love. 

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭CSB

Monday, in the Freshman Bible Study I’m a part of, we talked about Adam and Jesus and how their singular actions effect the whole of humanity forever and ever. Adam’s one sin brought sin into the world to curse all. But Jesus’ one sacrifice brought salvation into the world for all who accept. Two men’s lives changed the world forever in drastic ways. If not for Jesus, we, living in our sin, would be doomed to Hell eternal. He gave us a way through grace to be with Him forever instead in paradise. Good Friday was definitely not good physically for Jesus, but spiritually it was God’s gift to us.
