Right-wing media figure Ben Shapiro—who’s endorsed Donald Trump and held a fundraiser for him—believes retirement is a “stupid idea unless you have some sort of health problem.”

Shapiro supports raising the age to access Social Security benefits, a policy that echoes those supported by 80% of Republicans in Congress.

Trump has also previously supported raising the retirement age and privatizing Social Security, which he once described as a “Ponzi scheme.” He also proposed cuts to Social Security and Medicare every year he was in office, and again this year suggested that he would be open to further cuts, before walking it back.
