“Twenty five years ago, the FIU | School of Architecture (SOA) was founded as the first public school of architecture in Miami, Florida. Built on the guiding vision of providing access to excellence, today, a short quarter century later, the FIU | SOA is housed in the iconic Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture Building; graduates more Hispanic design students than any other architecture school in the nation; and consistently ranks in the Top 20 among public schools of architecture in the United States.”

As the #SOA25 celebration continues, FIU CARTA and FIU_SOA were honored to host three of the key visionaries, critical in establishing the school 25 years ago, on the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus:

•Bernard Tschumi— the internationally-renowned architect who envisioned and  built the iconic Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture Building in 1999.

•U.S. Ambassador Paul L. Cejas, namesake of the architecture building, who played a pivotal role in the creation of the school.

•Modesto A. Maidique, Fourth President of FIU, and namesake of the campus on which the school was founded.
