Communications professor Mihaela Plugarasu, who recently won the CARTA Faculty Award for Teaching, is passionate about teaching communication and leadership skills for the 21st century. Her dedication to helping students succeed after graduation led her to create a course that bridges the gap between teaching professional skills and preparing students to have the mindset of a leader. The goal of the course “Self-Leadership A Guide to Personal and Professional Excellence” is to provide students with a variety of cross-disciplinary skills such as presence, self-awareness, empathy, and effective communication.
