Commencement Week. #FIUGrad Spotlight on Kathy Fernandez // This week, Kathy will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Communications and Media.

During her last semester, Kathy was part of the Univision STEP program (stepunivision), a School of Communication + Journalism (fiu_scj) collaboration with Univision University, which provides an experiential learning opportunity for students to train with journalism and media professionals who manage the day-to-day business of Univision, and gain on-the-job experience while completing program requirements for their undergraduate or graduate degree.

"I started my journey at FIU as a transfer student from MDC where I was an English major. After discovering my passion for the media arts, I oftentimes felt discouraged because I felt like I was behind compared to everyone else, but thanks to professors like Lilliam Martinez-Bustos, Dr. Susan Jacobson, and Michael Sheerin I was able to have some incredible opportunities." #RealTriumphs
