I had the pleasure of speaking with the NCAA PGIPs this morning about effective storytelling.

We all have a story to tell. We have access to stories at our fingertips but why do we choose to engage with the ones that we do?

EMOTION.

The definition of storytelling is the following. The vivid description of ideas, beliefs, personal experiences, and life- lessons through stories or narratives that evoke powerful emotions and insights.

So what is the secret formula to a good story?

Understanding YOU + Being AUTHENTIC = EFFECTIVE Storytelling

Remember who you are and what you do are two separate things, so dig deeper. If you are a hardworker paint the picture for us. What does it look like to you? How do you define it and why? 

Today we discussed how we all can share our story through social media, interviews, networking, and more. When I tell you this group gets it. I am very excited to cheer them all on throughout their careers and appreciate them for engaging with me this afternoon! 

Huge shoutout to the Leadership Development team for having me as this truly fills my heart. The PGIP is one of a kind and it has been an honor to see it change lives.
