Sally C. (SCD, Secretary/Treasurer) says, “Getting to celebrate every holiday and milestone with my family is such a great joy! I love eating my Tia’s mole and I love walking into my Abuela’s kitchen- especially in winter when she makes canela and chocolate to eat with pan. It means so much to me that I have all their love and support- but the best thing is that my cousins are my best friends.

My favorite family traditions center around Christmas, when my family gathers around the table with my Abuelita, my Tia, and all my cousins, to make tamales. We always make 100+. I love this tradition because it’s always fun to gather with family to do something that’s important to our culture (and my Tia has the best gossip). We carry the baby Jesus to the nativity and place him in his manger to symbolize the beginning of Christmas, on the midnight of Christmas Eve.”
