Workers prepare to drag a freshly repaired boat back into the Mediterranean Sea in Burg Migheizil, #Egypt. Burg Migheizil sits at the mouth of the nile and the Mediterranean Sea and its economy is dependent on fishing but often also transports immigrants to Europe.

We talked with several families who lost their sons and fathers on the perilous trip across the sea, and others who had become relatively rich.
