Bigger, heavier: modern vehicles have piled on the pounds in the past three decades.

Did you know that the average mass of new cars rose 10% between 2000 and 2016? And that if SUV drivers were a nation, they would rank seventh in the world for carbon emissions?

Smaller, more efficient cars would consume fewer resources and make roads a lot safer.

To achieve deep and permanent cuts in air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, cars must become the exception in cities, not the rule.
