“What’s done in the dark will eventually come to the light.”

I made this graphic just as a reminder that what you see on Instagram is not even close to the time and energy athletes put in to working on their craft.

I love training. I love the satisfaction I get when I improve something so small that only my trainer and I would notice. I love the mental battles I have during a tough drill to push through. I love the feeling I get after a workout I did not want to get up and do gets checked off my to do list.

I love showing myself I can do what I thought I couldn’t.

Only you know the amount of work you put in to be something/someone you want to be. I know I train every day to get better at basketball, but I know it’s so much more than that. I’m training to become the person I want to be, to help others become who they want to be.

Athletes are so inspiring. Every day work amasses into outspoken or silent confidence, undeniable self-discipline and determination, and often a desire to build up those around you and those who don’t have the opportunity or platform to speak for themselves.

Next time you have something bad to say about how an athlete performed or how they shouldn’t be expressing their opinions on issues outside of sport, ask yourself what do you do every day to get better and be better?
