There are many benefits to having a dog in the family. Studies show that dog owners live 3 years longer than people without dogs ❤️ They also teach children compassion and kindness at a young age. ⁣

There are countless reasons why dogs are called man’s best friend and no other species on earth comes a close second!🐶⁣

As 2019 commences, make it a point to keep everyone in the family healthier—all legs counted! Here are ways to do that: ⁣

1) Go out and be active 💫⁣
Spend quality time with the whole family in the great outdoors. Go hiking. Enjoy the beach. Swim in a lake. Even a stroll in nature is good. Find ways to inhale fresh air and create fun memories while active Rover explores the world with his nose!⁣

2) Home cooked meals that are healthy for people and for dogs too!🥩🍗🥚⁣
Did you know that there are many human super foods that are healthy for dogs as well? Sweet potatoes, apples and salmon are just some of these foods. With a little research, you can definitely whip up some recipes that you can share with your pup!⁣

3) Sharing a bed is nice but provide your dog their own bed!😚⁣
It is not uncommon for dog-loving hoomans to sleep with their dog but it’s important to assess your sleep and your pup’s to make sure you’re all sleeping well. If pupper moves too much or your snoring becomes unbearable, there should be a bed waiting for them to retreat to. ⁣

4) Make pet time longer 👐⁣
Petting a dog is proven to reduce cortisol and stimulate serotonin production. It also lowers blood pressure. Dogs are happiest when they are petted so it’s a win-win for all parties involved. ⁣

5) Adopt another four-legged companion 🐕⁣
While dogs love humans, there’s no replacement to their own kind. Dogs crave spending time with other dogs and playing by their rules. It’s definitely less lonely. Nevertheless, this is a huge responsibility so you definitely need to sleep on it!
