51% of small business in the US are owned by women.

90% of women-owned business fall under the category of a micro business.

So what can we do to ensure women-owned micro businesses aren’t just protected, but given the opportunities and recourses to thrive?

This month I went to Capitol Hill with the National Association of Women Business Owners for nawbonational NAWBO Advocacy Days

We met with offices across the Senate and House of Representatives to advocate for legislation to amend the definition of a microbusiness to encompass business with less than 50 employees with an annual revenue of less than $5,000,000

We are advocating for amendments that 👇

👉 Establish a Microbusiness Loan Pilot Program to give business more access to the capital they need to grow.

👉 Create more workforce protections for independent contractors.

👉 Help small businesses get better access to employee benefits and paid family leave, as well as affordable healthcare and childcare.

👉 Establish programs that give business owners access to education and digital tools to increase financial literacy.

My business consumes about 99% of my total capacity, and it’s been amazing to take a moment to look up and realize I’m a part of something much, much bigger.
