Women and girls make up 49.7% of the global population – yet, they’re often ignored in discussions on demographics, with their rights violated in population policies.

The result is a world that excludes and marginalises half the population of the planet.

On Tuesday’s World Population Day, unfpa is stressing the urgent need to advance gender equality to achieve a more prosperous, peaceful and sustainable future for all.
