## Caption

Every 5 seconds, the equivalent of one soccer field is lost due to soil erosion. Yet, it takes 1,000 years to produce just a few centimetres of topsoil.

Soil is the foundation of our food and agriculture - supporting the production of 95% of the food we consume. Yet, at the current rate, 90% of all soils will be degraded by 2050. Without urgent action, degrading soils will put our ecosystems climate, and food security in jeopardy.

On Monday's #WorldSoilDay, help protect our soils by: 

🌱  Planting vegetation in gardens or scarcely vegetated areas to reduce soil erosion. 
🌱 Limiting waste by recycling and reusing to minimize soil pollution. 
🌱  Raising awareness of the importance of protecting our soils to maintain the health of people, animals, and the environment.
