“Creativity and art are the lifeblood of our world, from under the Earth up to the civilizations and cultures we have evolved into. It’s not a hobby for those who don’t take life seriously...It’s not just the humanities or arts that creativity lives in. It is not just a canvas or music to the ears, but it is the medicine and the physics and the technology that our entire modern civilization rests upon. Creativity is the very center of this. If I could point to a God, it would be creativity. Religion, philosophy, literature, films, characters, symphonies - all have one thing in common, a human created them. The role is always creator, but it is deeper than the brilliance of an oil painting and the velvet infused word of a worldwide prose. This role is as visionaries and engineers of the world in the form of culture. Creatives demand you to become more, be more, say more. They also demand you to turn around and walk back through the crowd. To go left, when they say right. They demand you to find another way, another path, to challenge what you know and anyone who tells you what to do. Rebellions require rebels. Rebels are the ones who don’t take what is, and accept it as fact. They question the whole world and every authority from schools, universities, and teachers. They question their parents, their friends, and themselves. They look at what they think is black and white and throw color at it. They erase lines that they thought were unbreakable and they break chains they never thought they had. This is why creatives are rebels. Because to create, we must destroy what we think we know, to create what needs to be known. And in this case, that means destroying your old life, your old self, your old chains and stories so you can create who you were meant to be.” - @thebrookesolis
