In the famous words of Bill Withers, “Sometimes in our lives we all have pain, we all have sorrow.”

But how to handle that pain and sorrow?

Just let it come. Let it wash over you. Then let it go.

Often, we make our grief worse when we try to ignore it or push it away. 

Instead, welcome it. Give it a big warm hug. Say to yourself, “Right now I am feeling intense grief, and it’s ok.” Cry as much as you need to, but don’t hold onto the grief.

You will see over time the intensity of the pain will decrease, and more pleasant feelings will emerge.

Emotions are like clouds. They come and go, and may block the sunshine for a little while. But eventually, grief passes, and the sun shines again in our lives ☀️
