EVMS hosted "The Last Comic Con", a production of the Governor's School for the Arts that was named the “Best Performance of an Original Script” at the Virginia Theatre Association Conference in October 2017.  The play emphasized topics such as homophobia and race relations in the framework of four friends planning a trip to Comic Con.
