As we reach the middle of May and the middle of AAPI Heritage Month, we wanted to celebrate all the joys and the unique journey of all AAPI immigrants and citizens in the United States. Let us recognize all the unique life experiences, traditions and food (including our national dishes!) that we all have to offer. We encourage you to honor our AAPI cultures each day, every day of the year. ✨

Today we highlight Kare-kare! A traditional Filipino stew consisting of meat such as tripe, pork leg, ox-tail, goat or chicken, vegetables, and a thick, savory peanut sauce flavored with annatto seeds. Shrimp paste (bagoong) is often served on the side in order to enhance the flavors of the dish. 🦐

Kare-kare is traditionally cooked in a clay cooking pot known as palayok, and the vessel also acts as a serving bowl once the dish is properly cooked.

Our Short Rib Kare Kare on our menu now is served with braised short rib, eggplant, okra, haricot verts, peanut butter, bagoong sauce, fried garlic and annatto oil.
