"I think we don’t take the time to really hear the other person’s story and the other person’s narrative; and if we do, we don’t take the time to let it sink in and understand how I might connect to that person. How can I be of service to that? Or What am I doing to contribute to someone’s bad situation that has happened or what can I do to kinda change my mood around so that they can have a great experience at Stony Brook and to know that we’re all in this together. So Empathy is something that I always want to lead with and always will wrap up with because you always have an opportunity to learn a little bit more about that person, no matter if you know that person already, as you go throughout your life."
