Homemade Almond Mylk🥛

found these raw almonds at Target and made my own almond mylk for the first time ever. It was thicker than grocery store-bought and it only has two ingredients!

✨You will need:
•2 cups raw almonds
•10 cups filtered water
•& a little patience + a good blender

In a large bowl, soak almonds in filtered water. Rest refrigerated overnight. The following day, take the almonds with the water and place them inside a blender and blend at low speed for 1 minute. Then increase the speed and blend for 2 more minutes until frothy. Strain using a fine-mesh strainer (or cheesecloth) onto a clean bowl. Discard the pulp (or save for another recipe) and place the almond mylk inside a clean, preferably sterile, container. Refrigerate and consume within 3-5 days. Enjoy!

Nut mylk without preservatives spoils quickly; I learned this the hard way. These are some of the tips I found online to make mylk last longer:

•Wash your hands thoroughly and use gloves (to avoid bacteria getting in contact with the nuts.
•Sterilize everything you’ll use.
•Don’t touch the mylk directly with your hands, instead use a spoon to press down and strain.
•Use filtered water and refrigerate everything, don’t let it sit on your counter for long.
•Flash boil the almonds before soaking them to kill any bacteria.
•Instead of blending everything together, discard the water in which the almonds were soaked and use fresh one.
